SCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS:  Please note that the SC Online Writing Center is open for appointments Tuesday-Saturday and the total length of appointments is 25 minutes to allow transition time for the consultant.

  • The white boxes are available appointment times.
  • Click a white box under your desired appointment time and fill out the form.
    • Please make every effort to spell your instructor's name correctly, especially if you need credit for an assignment.
  • After completing the form, and within 24 hours of your appointment time, click the yellow folder icon in the menu bar above the schedule to attach drafts and assignment instructions and/or rubrics, as needed.
  • Please attach documents in a format that is compatible with MS Word.
  • You'll receive an automated email at your Southwestern College email account if you schedule your appointment successfully.
  • All times are in US Central Time. If you are outside that time zone, make sure you know when to show up in your local time! (Try using a time zone converter if necessary.)
  • Appointment availability is subject to change.

Consultation Policies

  1. Because our goal is to help you become an independent writer:

    • Learners are required to submit their writing in a document compatible with MS Word 24 hours prior to the appointment
    • If a document isn't submitted 24 hours prior to the appointment, the appointment will be canceled by the consultant and will need to be rescheduled
    • We don’t provide more than 3 sessions per writing project
    • We will only meet about a writing project once per day
    • We will only provide consultations about take-home exams if your instructor provides us with written consent
    • Consultations must take place at least 24 hours before your assignment is due (unless the consultation is a follow-up)
    • All consultations must take place at least 2 hours before your assignment is due; no exceptions.
  2. Consultation records are confidential. We only email notes to instructors at the learner’s request. These notes are our only communication with instructors about our consultations.
  3. If you need to cancel an appointment, please do so through the WCOnline booking system as soon as possible, no later than 24 hours prior to the appointment, so the appointment time is available for other students.
  4.  Appointments must be canceled prior to 8 hours before the appointment time or, if not attended, will be marked as a no-show.
  5. Please be advised that two (2) no-shows without timely cancellation within a single session will obviate the opportunity to reschedule within that session and you may be prohibited from making future appointments at the OWC.
